(NY DAILY NEWS) – A 27-year-old man was fatally shot outside the Bronx housing project where he lived Sunday morning, police said.

Ezequiel “Zeke” Rivera was struck in the chest in front of NYCHA’s Monroe Houses on Bruckner Blvd. near Rosedale Ave. in Soundview about 9:15 a.m., cops said.

Rivera was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, where he died at 9:50 a.m., officials said.

“He was a good person,” a friend who went to school with Rivera told the Daily News. “He liked sports and he stayed out of trouble. He was in no gangs, has a church background.”

There are no arrests.

“We was with him last night until 5 a.m. this morning,” a devastated friend said.

Another friend said Rivera knocked on his window at 7 a.m. to see if he wanted to work out.

“This morning, we all ran out cause someone tell us they shot Zeke,” said a friend who gave his name as J. Fly.
